1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus is unavailable, but you can change that!

Timothy and Titus were important members of the apostle Paul’s missionary team. Paul’s letters to these two young men show his concern for the future of the church. In these letters Paul provides instruction, warns against false doctrine, and encourages faithfulness. The letters speak to every believer who is concerned about the future of the church.

As we look at these qualifications, we keep in mind their application also to those called into the public ministry today. “Above reproach”—before God no one is above reproach. If this calls for sinlessness and perfection, who could qualify? Paul has in mind “consistent, mature Christian living which gives no occasion for public reproach.”4 Paul seems to refer here to reproach on the part of fellow Christians since he refers to “outsiders” in his final qualification in verse 7.
